Tokyo Skytree is not only an architectural marvel of modern Japan but also a symbol where culture and technology converge. Whether you're visiting Tokyo for the first time or returning once again, this 634-meter landmark never fails to deliver new surprises and inspiration. From transportation tips and viewing strategies to the diverse shopping and cultural experiences surrounding it, we’ve prepared four practical tips to help you plan your visit with ease and fully appreciate the charm of the tower—not just from above, but through the details that reveal a Tokyo where tradition and modernity coexist.

We hope this guide adds even more excitement to your Tokyo Skytree adventure!

How to Reach Tokyo Skytree

The most convenient way to arrive is via the Tobu Skytree Line, which stops directly at Tokyo Skytree Station. Alternatively, you can take the Asakusa, Hanzomon, or Keisei Oshiage lines and get off at Oshiage Station. If you prefer to walk, it’s just 20 minutes from Asakusa across the Sumida River. The entrance and ticket counters are located on the 4th floor of the Tokyo Skytree Town complex.

Tokyo’s Modern Landmark

Since its opening in May 2012, Tokyo Skytree has quickly become an iconic part of the city’s skyline. It is the tallest tower in Japan and once held the title of the world’s tallest tower. Located near the traditional district of Asakusa, it offers a perfect opportunity to experience both historical and contemporary Japanese culture in a single trip.

Unforgettable Views from Above

The tower features two observation areas: the Tembo Deck at 350 meters and the Tembo Galleria at 450 meters. Both provide spectacular panoramic views of Tokyo from day to night. Thrill-seekers can test their nerves on the glass floor of the Tembo Deck or the glass-ringed Tembo Galleria for a feeling of walking in the sky.

More Than a View—A Full Day Out

Even if heights aren’t your thing, Tokyo Skytree Town has plenty to offer. Explore over 300 shops and restaurants in Tokyo Solamachi, where you’ll find everything from Skytree-themed souvenirs to authentic Japanese goods like green tea, artisan knives, and Hello Kitty products. Other attractions include the Sumida Aquarium, the Planetarium Tenku, and the Postal Museum where you can mail a postcard with a special Skytree stamp.

8 Most Breathtaking Rice Terraces

8 Most Breathtaking Rice Terraces

For centuries, Asia has thrived on rice cultivation, shaping the customs, livelihoods, and landscapes of its people. While flat lowlands are used for conventional rice paddies, the mountainous terrains demand a different strategy. Here, locals have ingeniously sculpted the slopes into layered steps—known as rice terraces—that allow water from rainfall, rivers, or mountain springs to cascade down from one level to the next. This ancient technique, believed to have been practiced for hundreds or even thousands of years, not only ensures a steady irrigation flow but also protects the soil from erosion.
